The Home Edit with Tim Labenda
For fashion and interior designer Tim Labenda, styling a home is something that should be done over time. When we visited his Berlin apartment recently, with key pieces from the Stories from… The Dalmatian Coast collection, he gave us a little insight into unique home style, and how to him, taste is all that matters.
Read on to find out which pieces he chose, why he was excited to work with Desenio, and discover which is his favourite room in his apartment.

What drew Tim to Stories from... The Dalmatian Coast?
Together with his partner Hannes, Tim recently launched a book, The Grand Tour Italy. The book is a captivating journey to Italy and a tour of its cultural offerings: fashion, interiors, cuisine and art. It was this vivid sense of a destination that first drew Tim to our latest collection. Tim says: "Stories from... The Dalmatian Coast is a beautiful glimpse of a summer trip to the stunning Croatian coast. It invites you to daydream about long walks along the beach, exploring small seaside villages, and getting slightly sunburnt on a relaxing boat trip." This similar to Tim and Hannes's approach when writing their book.

Tim Labenda's favourite room
"When it comes to art, the bedroom really stands out. In the beginning, we started with a beloved wallpaper featuring two cranes that we absolutely adore. From there, the artworks on the opposite wall gradually came together."
Tim selected a typography art print: Piazza Del Sole together with Summer Stil Life, Freshly Picked and The Olive Plate. This selection brings that sense of laid-back summer trips into his bedroom, and picks up on the turquoise details from the wallpaper. This was complemented a hat from Hannes's collection and considered details to create a gallery wall they both love to wake up to.

Picking art related to a single theme
"I've wanted to collaborate with Desenio for a long time, but it was actually quite difficult to choose from their beautifully curated selection," he laughs.
But choose he did, opting for a large canvas print of the beautiful historic town of Dubrovnik perching above turquoise seas: The Dalmatian Coast.
"I always try to create a selection that feeld cohesive in itself. On the one hand I like when there's a specific colour mood and on the other hand I like when the art all fits within one theme, like with this collection."

Home styling tip: work with the light you have
Tim and Hannes bought their apartment because of the beautiful afternoon light, which is also reflected in this collection. His advice is to work with whatever feature you love most about your home and to use art and styling details to amplify that feature. Tim’s personal approach is very much maximalist, or, as he puts it: “The more, the better! I find that the greater the variety in size, materials, and media, the more exciting the overall result becomes.” The art in his home is complemented by thoughtful details, like his collection of hotel keychains that reminds him of some of the most meaningful trips. So if you are looking to bring a sense of ‘slow summer’ into your home, explore this new destination collection and combine art prints or canvases with meaningful details.
