Art Advice at Home

In a new series, we will be visiting unique homes with the Art Advice team. On this visit we wanted to create a special feeling in a home, without losing the personality of the space and the people who live there.

First up, Elsa Karlsson, who is an Artwork Designer at Desenio, shared her space with us. By keeping some of her personal artworks but hanging them together with new pieces from the Desenio Seasonal Editions, we refreshed her space for spring and created a livelier, more dynamic feel in the home.

Elsa loves colour and homes with a personal touch (hers is no exception). She enjoys switching out designs for different seasons and likes to mix antique frames with new. If there’s one colour she won’t hang, it’s purple, and she cherishes a playful, yet stylish space.

Here’s how we refreshed the different rooms in Elsa’s home:

Lively Living Room

Adding new designs from Club Play and Golden Serenade to Elsa’s existing art created a bold palette of yellow, red and blue, which added energy and a spring-like feeling to the space, yet still in tune with the harmony in the space. This created a stylish, yet playful feeling.

Mixing new art with old, graphic pieces with softer lines, and letting certain designs stand out while others contribute a calmness to the whole was key to creating this look. An art wall should feel alive, not static, capturing the rhythm, contrast and personality of Elsa’s home.

A Blissful Bedroom

In the bedroom, we selected pieces from Golden Serenade to create gentle colour pops against the green walls. Picking out quieter colours created a softer, more calm aesthetic.

Elsa’s home features beautiful shelves in the bedroom, an area Elsa felt easily became messy. To calm things down we created a more unified feeling with simple touches. We made a clear selection of art and objects that harmonise with each other to create a curated and intentional feel.
