Photo art from Nicke Jacobsson
Nicke is somewhat of a hidden gem who combines photography with his profession as a colorist. We asked Nicke to sit down with us for a chat about photography and what inspires his creations.
Nicke’s foremost inspiration is the desire to capture those fleeting moments where the subject is absorbed in the present, oblivious to the camera or other diversions.
He shoots everything from empty hockey rinks on a dark winter night to beaches and noisy backstreets in major cities - anything that includes the common denominator: light.
"Beautiful lighting and perfect colours"
A photographer is on a perpetual hunt for that perfect lighting, and Nicke feels most at home in areas where he is able to capture these elusive shots. His favourite photos are those in which he is able to photograph his subjects in a natural setting, absorbed in that moment’s events. He keeps his camera close at all times, in order to capture just these moments that are often gone in the blink of an eye.
Nicke’s interest in photography started in 2006 during a high school project. His travels, in particular, have provided him with his greatest learning opportunities, and have functioned as a school outside the classroom. These days, he also enjoys the job title digital colourist, and works out of his own studio in Sodermalm, Stockholm. Part of a colourist’s job includes adjusting and balancing the digital colour exposure in video commercials, music videos and other film projects.
